WIF4 Report Officially Released: Insights into the Future of Irrigation and Water Management
The World Irrigation Forum (WIF), organized every three years by the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID), is one of the world's leading events dedicated to irrigation, water resources management, agricultural development, and environmental sustainability. The forum brings together policymakers, researchers, practitioners, and industry representatives from around the globe to exchange knowledge, foster professional networks, and explore opportunities for international collaboration and innovation.
The 4th World Irrigation Forum (WIF4), held in conjunction with the 76th International Executive Council Meeting, was hosted by the Malaysian National Committee on Irrigation and Drainage (MANCID) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 7–13 September 2025. Under the theme “Is Irrigation a Sunset Industry?”, the forum addressed critical issues related to climate change, water security, smart irrigation technologies, sustainable agriculture, and the evolving role of irrigation in ensuring global food security and resilient water management systems.
To share the key outcomes and discussions of the event, the official WIF4 Report has now been published. The report provides a comprehensive overview of the forum’s keynote presentations, technical sessions, policy dialogues, and major conclusions, offering valuable insights for researchers, policymakers, water professionals, and stakeholders across related sectors.
