Taiwan, a treasure island at the western edge of the Pacific Ocean, is blessed with the abundance of nature in every season of the year.
In Taiwan, agriculture is not just a business. It's a way of life!
Taiwan is located on the southeast coast of the Asian continent and on the west coast of the Pacific Ocean, between Japan and the Philippines, in the middle of the East Asian island arc, and is a major sea and air transportation route in the Asia-Pacific region.
From the traditional to the refined, from merely putting enough food on the table to supporting healthy and sustainable lifestyles through changing times, Taiwan's agriculture has continuously progressed to serve the evolving needs of our island's people, demonstrating the unique value of this sector.
Taiwan has a total area of 36,000 square kilometers (14,400 square miles). The island is narrow from east to west and long from north to south. Two-thirds of the island is covered with high mountainous woodlands, while the rest of the island is hills, plateaus, coastal plains, and basins. The central mountain range runs from north to south and is the watershed of the rivers in the east and west of Taiwan. The main peak of the Yushan Mountain Range on its western side is nearly 4,000 meters, the highest in Northeast Asia.
