CTCID Delegation at the 9th Asian Regional Conference and 75th IEC Meeting of ICID in Sydney
The CTCID delegation departed for Sydney, Australia, on August 31, 2024, to attend the 9th Asian Regional Conference and the 75th International Executive Council (IEC) Meeting of ICID. On September 2, they participated in the conference's opening ceremony, followed by the WG-Climate International Workshop on Climate Change, organized by CTCID, which focused on the impacts of climate change on agriculture and irrigation.
On September 4, the delegation attended several key working group meetings. During the Asian Regional Working Group (ASRWG) session, the Taiwanese representative delivered a presentation on food security in Taiwan. Other sessions addressed critical topics such as climate change, irrigation practices, rainwater harvesting, and sustainable coastal and environmental protection.
The following day, on September 5, the delegation continued their participation in specialized working groups, engaging in discussions on the water, food, and energy nexus, the history of irrigation practices, and socioeconomic transformations in irrigation and drainage systems.
After completing a series of productive meetings and workshops, the delegation returned to Taiwan on September 6. Their active participation in the conference strengthened international collaboration and reaffirmed Taiwan's leadership in addressing global environmental challenges related to agriculture and water management.
